Day 2 – Fr, 25.08.	Visit the Arsenale and Palazzo Bembo

The program started with a half-day guided visit to the Biennale’s main venue Arsenale. The 43 visitors got divided in two groups and gained a valuable insight into the exhibition and into contemporary art in general. The reduced group size allowed excited conversations.

After an intense morning, the second half of the day was free. The participants could choose to visit other interesting venues of the Biennale or to stroll through the streets of this beautiful city.

In the evening we visited the exhibition “Personal Structures” at Palazzo Bembo with the curators and some of the exhibiting artists.

By a typical Italian Dinner the participants had the opportunity to recall all the new impressions.

Day 3 – Sa, 26.08. Visit the Giardini and Palazzo Mora

Day 3 – Sa, 26.08.	Visit the Giardini and Palazzo Mora

This day we had another half-day guided visit. We went to the Giardini to enjoy a curated selection of some of the permanent national pavilions with a focus on Contemporary sculpture without forgetting the must-see shows.

In the afternoon the participants were free to explore the other pavilions in the Giardini or other venues throughout Venice.

In the evening we visited the exhibition “Personal Structures” at
Palazzo Mora with the curators and some of the exhibiting artists.

The day ended with a collective dinner in a typical Venetian restaurant with view of the Grand Canal.

The Exhibition was curated by Christine Macel - Chief Curator at the Musée national d’art moderne – Centre Pompidou in Paris. VIVA ARTE VIVA is an exclamation, a passionate outcry for art and the state of the artist. VIVA ARTE VIVA is a Biennale designed with artists, by artists and for artists, about the forms they propose, the questions they ask, the practices they develop and the ways of life they choose.
Rather than broaching a single theme, VIVA ARTE VIVA offers a route that moulds the artists’ works and a context that favours access and understanding, generating connections, resonance and thoughts. 120 were the invited artists from 51 countries; 103 of these were participating for the first time.

“Personal Structures” is a project aimed at introducing in writing, pictures and in exhibitions, a number of international artists whom, for all their individuality, have much in common concerning their intentions. The observation that even in the most distant corners of the world and independent of one another, closely related artistic problems are being worked on, led to the idea of bringing several of these artists together. The goal is to start a communication with and among the artists, and to offer them a forum. Personal Structures was held during the Venice Biennale 2017 at the European Cultural Centre situated in four Venetian Palazzi in the city centre and was organized by the GAA Foundation, a non-profit organisation that aims to heighten the awareness about the more philosophical themes in contemporary art and to make these subjects more accessible to a wider international audience.
