The documenta14 will be the fourteenth edition of the art exhibition documenta and will take place in 2017 in both Kassel, Germany, it's traditional home, and in Athens, Greece. It will be held first in Athens from 8 April until16 July, and in Kassel from 10 June until 17 September 2017. As part of the concept of the artistic director Adam Szymczyk the exhibition will be held in both countries. The artists should work with and on both locations. The working title of the documenta14 is "Learning from Athens".

The international exhibition format, realized in the generous ten-year rhythm, is an important stimulus for art in public spaces. Four decades after the initiators Klaus Bußmann and Kasper König shocked the Münsterans for the first time with provocative sculptures in the city in 1977, each edition of the exhibition has attracted hundreds of thousands of art enthusiasts from around the world who travel there to experience the exhibition.

Around 30 artists are developing new projects for Münster and beyond in close exchange with the artistic director Kasper König and the two curators Britta Peters and Marianne Wagner. The current edition includes themes such as our present global situation, as well as reflections on contemporary concepts of sculpture and an investigation into the basic attributes of the term public.
