"Dead trees save lifes"
01. - 11. September 2011, Gangelt, Germany
in cooperation with Partnerschaft für Afrika e.V. and Heinrichs Gruppe

200 artists from 30 nations participated in the call for proposals. An independent jury has selected 10 artists to create within 10 days sculptures at the 1st International Sculpture Week in Gangelt, Germany. The works are now fore sale. One third of the revenues go to "Partnership for Africa e.V" for building a orphanage in Tanzania to enable HIV-positive children a dignified life. If you are intersted in please contact Ms. Anja Braun.

At September 11 the 10 created works were presented to the public by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Becker, curator and art critics.

The idea:
One hundred and sixty of these trees, some of which are very old, were taken to Germany to be replanted there. Unfortunately, these trees did not withstand the strain of the transport and two very cold winters. Fascinated by the dead grove, the sculptress Brele Scholz, proposed offering the olive trees to artists in a series of symposia. This was the first.
