With an impressive construction which clearly represents the achievements of donator Lothar Fischer (1933-2004), the museum Lothar Fischer in Neimarkt i. d. OPf. achieved an outstanding reception in Bavaria through interesting exhibitions and innovative projects.
For the 5 year anniversary the exhibition will be redesigned. An artistic installation is the background for the documentation of the development of the museum, in which the challenges and chances of a monographic museum far away of cultural centres are shown.
Lothar Fischer (1933-2004) is one of the most important artists for figurative sculptures in post war Germany. Lothar Fischer himself worked out the presentation of his artwork when the museum opened in June 2004. It was his wish then not to have chronologically order, but to present it according to the materials used. In 2009 there is a new concept for the arrangement of his sculptural work. It advocates the perception and the understanding of his work.
The exhibition will be documented using 500 m² of the museum starting with his work from his study period at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (1952-1966), the years with the groups SPUR (1957-1965) and GEFLECHT (1965/1966), the influence of pop art (1966-1968), to the wrapped sculptures (1969-1974). Also there will be shown several pieces which are past 1975. Fischers work is dominated by concentration, strictness and closeness until organic structures and transparency take over as the dominating factors.
In the last 10 working years the theme of variation is the main focus of his Oeuvres. This will be shown in a retrospective arranged presentation in clay, bronze, iron and Styrofoam.
In addition there will be several graphic books and sketches, which have not been so broadly recognised by the public so far. The documentation will be mystified by a room oriented, walk in installation which has the title ?Der dritte Raum?, which has been created by architecture students of the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München for a presentation in the Pinakothek of modern art in Munich 2008. This shows the symbiotic of art, architecture and nature in the museum Lothar Fischer.
The exhibition runs from 5. July till 13. September 2009.
