Simultaneous to the exhibition ROMANTIC MACHINES. Contemporary kinetic art is presented by the Georg-Kolbe-Museum within the Kunstkammer-series of Christina Doll.
The Berlin based artist (1972) exhibits four monumental concrete Portrait sculptures at the garden of the museum. (Vivi, Herr Fuhl, Bobby und Elli). The common attribute of these sculptures, besides their size, is the unadorned physicalness which is different to modern ideal of beauty. Christina Doll gives her figures a natural dignity which is very much different to traditional monumental sculptures. They creat a calculated contrast to the sculptures of Georg Kolbe which are place in the garden of the museum .
