Munich based artist Brigitte Schwacke receives 5000 Euro. The presentation ceremony took place early July in Neumarkt during the opening of the exhibition ?Anziehung &Ausstrahlung? ? 5 years anniversary of the Lothar Fischer museum.

Brigitte Schwacke (1957) has been studying in Munich at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste (1983-89) with Sir Eduardo Paolozzi. Her work impressed the Jury with independent artistic positions and picture language. The Jury was represented by several members of the foundation as well as Prof. Hanns Herpich former president of the academy, Dr. Josefine Gabler director of the museum of modern art Wörlen in Passau and Rolf Wicker, Lothar-Fischer award winner 2007.

The artists favourite working material is alloyed wire, which she uses to create large volume space oriented sculptures without mass. Her delicate, often pending nettings are a mix between sculpturing and three dimensional areal sketching, between figuration and abstraction. The decision for Brigitte Schwacke honours Lothar Fischers concept, accords with the profile of the museum und broadens the aspect of modern sculpturing.

The ceremony took place during the opening of the exhibition ?Anziehung & Ausstrahlung ? 5 Jahre Museum Lothar Fischer? on the 5th of July 2009. During the summer 2010 the Lothar-Fischer-Priceholder will hold a single exhibition.
