Interview with the gallery owner William Figliola
sculpture network: When did you found your gallery?
William Figliola: In 2007 I founded the contemporary art gallery and already in 1989 I had founded the design gallery.
sculpture network: How is your gallery different from others?
William Figliola: Modern culture has made a sharp separation between the sphere of art and that of design. We want to unite these two words. It is impossible to think of one without the other and they all derive from the same existential view of the world.
sculpture network: What must happen for you to be fascinated or excited by a piece?
William Figliola: Balance, elegance, beauty, novelty, sensation
sculpture network: What are the plans for the future? How should the gallery develop?
William Figliola: I’m always on the lookout for new artists because I’m a dealer and not only a merchant.
sculpture network: What expectations do you connect with your membership?
William Figliola: To get to know new artists.
sculpture network: Where do you normally look for information?
William Figliola: The sources are many, but first and foremost I should do it with love.
