The city of Zurich tries new forms of cooperation between galleries, museums and off-art spaces.
The city of Zurich and the Working Group “Public Art” (AG KiöR) have invited Zurich galleries, museums and off-art spaces to realize art projects in public spaces from 26 May to 28 August. With the pilot project, under the title "guest rooms," the various aspects of this art form are reflected with five selected projects at four downtown locations. The aim of the AG KiöR is to test new forms of cooperation among galleries, museums and off-art spaces. Whether and how the project will continue will be decided after an evaluation.
In addition to an interactive concert, an audio installation, awareness weeks, and a two-day workshop, sculptures were erected in various locations, such as the light sculpture "Privat Moon" by the Russian artist Leonid Tishkov (Barbarian Art Gallery), which radiates in the form of a crescent moon in the Zurich night sky, or the 1989 "AIDS Sculpture" on the Paradeplatz (May 365 Gallery). On the Tessinerplatz, the gallery Annamarie M. Andersen presents the gold-colored sculpture by Arturo di Maria. The four cubes locked together in a tilted position refer to the financial crisis.
