The administration of the Städel Museums has extended the contract of Max Hollein (40) for the leadership of the Städel Museums and the Liebighaus sculpture collection for 5 more years until 2015. The vote was concordant, as the chairman of the administration Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Schweickart announced. Max Hollein has been director of the Städel Museum and the Liebighaus collection and the Kunsthalle Schirn Frankfurt since 2006. He will be in charge of all three institutions for 5 more years.
?We are very excited that Max Hollein will continue his excellent work in Frankfurt. The just started extension of the Städel Museum with its new presentation of the collection after construction is finished in 2011 will be a milestone in era of Hollein?, said Schweikart.
Prof. Dr. Felix Semmelroth, chairman of the Schirn Kunsthalle, said he was very pleased with the extension of Holleins contract and his decision to lead all three institutions. ?Max Hollein, who has been leading the Schirn Kunsthalle since 2001, developed them to one of the most outstanding exhibition halls with breathtaking exhibitions like the ?Impressionistinnen? or ?Peter Doig?. As director of the Städel and Liebighaus he achieved scientific sensations through his innovative approach. As the Botticelli exhibition at the Städel shows, both museums became of international reputation.
