The Sculpture Park Exhibition "When will the Federal Republic of Germany be covered over?" and the symposium "The park is not just for trees" discuss peculiarities of our culture.
Erich Hauser would have turned 80 years old this year. Early on, he discovered the material stainless steel and shaped his own language of form. The polished surfaces convey the idea of the techno age. Hauser was repeatedly represented at the Documenta in Kassel, and won awards such as the grand prize of the Biennale of Sao Paulo. On the occasion of his birthday, a variety of events will be held all over Germany, which present and honour his work from different perspectives.
Until 15 December 2010, the exhibition "Houser and friends" is shown in the Art Room Rottweil. It shows Hauser in dialogue with his fellow painters Peter Brüning, Kurt Frank, Gerhard Hoehme, Edgar Hofschen, Georg Karl Pfahler and Lothar Quinte.
Until 26 September 2010, students of Prof. Andrea Zaumseil of the College of Art and Design in Halle in the Sculpture Park of the Arts Foundation of Erich Hauser in Rottweil present their artistic interventions. In the economically underdeveloped areas of eastern Germany, the blank space has become everyday life. In the Sculpture Park Erich Hauser, under curator Michael Hahn, discovered blank spaces are deliberately filled. Empty foundations are enclosed, covered and made safe. Sculptures as responses to the ironic question: "When will the Federal Republic of Germany be covered over?"
Richard Jackson, this year's winner of the Erich Hauser prize, presents his work from 24 July to 26 September 2010 in the workshop hall and the exterior of the Art Foundation Erich Hauser in Rottweil. The painter and installation artist, born in 1939 in Sacramento, known for his mechanical painting machines, combines slapstick, coincidence, high culture and trivia. The exhibition shows both objects from previous years as well as those produced for the exhibition sculpture "Big Pig". www.hauserwirth.com
On 23 September 2010, a symposium entitled "The park is not just for trees there - Scenarios and perspectives in the Sculpture Park” takes place in the Arts Foundation. Dr. Elizabeth Fiedler of the Austrian Sculpture Park at the Joanneum Graz, Prof. Dr. Udo Weilacher from the Technical University of Munich, Christoph Schaefer, artists, and others discuss. The view returns to the historical tradition of the sculpture park until today, and especially considers the current interaction of sculpture in the context of nature and landscape.
