MICHAEL SAILSTORFER: PLACE AND TIME

Michael Sailstorfer: Raketenbaum (1), 2008

SPACE AND TIME gives an overview of the work of the German sculptor Michael Sailstorfer (born 1979, Velden / Vils). With 20 works, the exhibition presents a nuanced picture of his work.

Michael Sailstorfer is a melancholy dreamer who looks curiouly at the world. In particular, he uses the transformation and contextualization of familiar objects such as car tires, lights, and trees in his sculptures from a purely aesthetic point of view and leaves room for fiction and imagination.

Space and time: as a sculptor, he tries to influence these elements and observe how  sculptures newly fill the space, how their mere physical presence develops. The works are playful and make the viewer aware of his position - cognitive, sensory and situational.

SPACE AND TIME shows a selection of works from the past 10 years with installations, photos, videos and sculptures. It is clear that nothing in his work retains its familiar cast.
